"We're sorry, an unexpected error has occurred..."
Let me ask you something, dear ILS: Would I be any better off if it was an expected error? Because I can free up some time on my calendar.
If I knew that error was coming I'd have baked a cake. #librarylife
@cyberpunklibrarian update to this, East Texas U is winning for using that phrase after rescinding 50 Tibetan students the promise of full-rides mid-April. (was just reading the Chronicle)
@platypus Oh my god....
The phrase is such an HR kind of thing to say. Look, I know we just upended your lives and we made a huge mistake that will have massive consequences for your, but not so much for us.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
@cyberpunklibrarian I still prefer that kind of language to apologize for “any inconvenience“ because anything that we need to be apologizing for that it’s causing some inconvenience for sure. Whether it’s a train delay or a website or even maintenance on the website that means you have to come back later that’s literally inconvenience. If you’re lucky it’s only inconvenience and not more. #HonestErrorMessages
