Welp. It's that time of year again.
I just started the spreadsheet outlining, colour coding, and summarizing the new features and changes for an upcoming ILS upgrade.
God's mercy on our dark, dark souls.
@platypus With luck and with a little finagling, I hopefully will not have to deal with another migration ever again.
At least, I seriously hope not. I'll run an upgrade every three months over another migration!

@platypus Oh no no. I’m a Polaris Admin. Been using that ILS for almost two decades!

@platypus Oh yeah, they’ve literally got FOUR right now. Sierra and Polaris are their two big ones that are getting all the love. Millennium and Vital are supported but won’t get new features from here out. 🤓
@cyberpunklibrarian i have to remind myself that in a world where we use the Sirsi web app for our public catalog, it makes sense folks are still on Millennium... esp with the superior reporting (how do you build a MySQL-backed ILS with worse reporting options than your old BLOB one?)
Vital though... old Polaris? Something else?
@platypus Actually I think I got the name wrong. Vital is some kinda digital asset thing. Virtua is the name of the other ILS. It's also being sent into support only mode with Millennium.
Meanwhile, Polaris is being prepped for a more global market. I just finished that spreadsheet and, whoof, lots of interesting changes coming.
